Torch Manufacturing Process

08/07/2024

The manufacture of torches has a long history and there are many ways of producing this very common item. From the most artisanal and "home-made" processes to industrial manufacturing processes which cover a much wider market and high-volume production. They are made in various stages to ensure a high quality product. Let's shed some light on this "mystery" and talk about the torch manufacturing process.

Torch manufacturing: a well-lit "path".

The starting point for manufacturing high quality torches is their design and development, indicating the specifications for both the structure and the "insides" of the product, that is, the electronic circuits that enable the torch to operate correctly. This initial stage is followed by the plastic injection stage where specialised machinery is used to press the raw material into the moulds and create the components that ensure the item will operate correctly.

The next step in the manufacture of torches is to assemble the component parts. In this stage, components such as the casing, buttons, switches and the electric wiring for the torch are assembled. It is very important that all the components are properly aligned in the casing, which is an important part of the product. The casing can be made using a CNC lathe, the ideal machine for fast, quality production. Finally, when all the components have been assembled in the casing, a surface finish is applied to prevent external factors from damaging the torch.

TA Series: a beam of light for manufacturing

As we have seen, the manufacture of torches involves a variety of stages and components, but one of the most important parts is the casing for the torch. Specialised machinery is required to manufacture the casings, and CNC lathes are perfectly suited to production needs. As the shape is perpendicular to the machine axis, casings can be manufactured on this type of machine.

The most suitable lathe for making torch bodies is the TA-20-YS-640. That is because, thanks to the use of the driven tool and the sub-spindle option for making two anchor point geometries, CMZ's top selling series can be a "beam of light" for the manufacture of this product. In addition, the versatility and configurability of this machine make it unique, as the TA series offers a choice of three models with different bench lengths. So, what are you waiting for to light up your way?
