We are committed to European manufacturing and integral control of the process. For 80 years we have been committed to manufacturing quality machines that last over time, thereby generating less waste and caring for our planet. To support this we have integrated most of the production processes into our own facilities, so our environmental impact is up to five times lower than that of other manufacturers. We also work with top quality components, guaranteeing the durability of our machines with over 20 years of useful life. Thanks to that approach we have reduced our CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to other machines which last between 10 to 15 years.
At CMZ we produce our machines in Europe, reducing the need for sea transport. Producing a lathe in Asia, however, means its transport generates approximately 3.2 tonnes of CO2 because it has to travel more than 20,000 km to reach its destination. By localising production, we have managed to reduce our energy and environmental impact.
CO2 emissions per kWh are lower in Europe than in Asia. CMZ’s carbon footprint per kWh is under 100 g. This is because our energy supplier is A-rated.
In other Asian countries like Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, CO2 emissions per kWh are up to 550 g and in China they total 800 g. That is between 5-8 times the footprint generated by CMZ.
Using top quality components and leading brands, we manage to manufacture lathes with over 20 years of useful life. Compared to other machines whose precision lasts between 10-15 years, the average life span of a CMZ lathe is 28 years. In this way, CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 50 %.
