The Mazak QUICK TURN 450 and the CMZ TD 55 are lathes intended for the same type of part, they can be described as competitors. Nevertheless, analysis of their features shows there are technical differences.
The Mazak QUICK TURN 450 is a flat bed lathe. There is a 60 degree angle between the spindle and the X axis. In contrast, the CMZ TD 55 is a slant bed lathe with a 90 degree angle between the spindle and the X axis.
The carriages of the Mazak QUICK TURN 450 rest on linear roller guides. In the CMZ TD 55, the carriages rest on prismatic guides with metal on metal contact. In the guides, a ground surface is permanently in contact with a hand scraped surface.
The spindle and the sub-spindle in the CMZ TD 45 have more torque than the Mazak QUICK TURN 450. In addition the CMZ TD 55 has higher specifications in the turret: it reaches 12,000 rpm, 13 kW and 105 Nm.
As regards automation, with the CMZ TD 55 it is possible to automate part loading and unloading with the gantry loader. The Mazak QUICK TURN 450 does not have that option.
