As we mentioned earlier on in the year, 2024 promised to be full of projects and new investments. One of the most important investments has been the acquisition of 22,000 m2 in Berriz (Vizcaya) where we will build our eighth manufacturing plant. We have now completed the purchase. The new location will be for assembly of the next lathe model which our technical office is already working flat out on. This new adventure joins the ones already undertaken to increase our production capacity to 1,000 machines a year. The medium-term objective is to consolidate our production of 800 lathes a year.
The facility will be built on a total surface area of 22,000m2 in the Aboro district of Berriz (Vizcaya) which is home to various industries. The plot was the home of Mendiguren y Zarraua stamping and pressing plant, and will house an assembly plant purposed suited to our manufacturing requirements for the new model of machine and there will also be offices. The factory aims to become CMZ’s new hub and will be fitted with the latest technological developments and features.
This investment is the cherry on top of the investment journey we have been on for several years now. Our ethos is a commitment to quality manufacturing. That’s why we produce over 80% of the components for the machines at our own facilities. This approach enables us to control the entire process and avoid export and import costs by manufacturing everything at our facilities:
Built in 1960, and CMZ’s current headquarters, our plant has undergone various refurbishments since then. An air-conditioned factory to ensure the precision of the machines we assemble there. It houses our headquarters and the technical support service. It is also the assembly unit for the TA and TTL series.
It has 5,500 m2 of air-conditioned facilities, 150 m2 of clean room (for precision assemblies and a lot more). Find out about it here .
The launch of our large lathe range highlighted the need for an assembly unit suitable for these machines. Currently, in addition to our large lathes, we also assemble the TTS Series at this plant. The plant has 10,000 m2 of air-conditioned facilities and 200 m2 of clean room.

Neoprec has 8,000 m2 of air-conditioned facilities. There we machine most of the components we use to produce our machines. The unit has been conceived and designed as a clean room: there are no columns, there is a traversable roof and a 500 mm-thick concrete floor which does not allow temperature variations of more than 1ºC in 24 hours throughout the plant. The increase in production and current demand led us to create the new Precitor. Our turning and cylindrical grinding plant has an air-conditioned surface area of 2,000 m2. Its design is similar to that of Neoprec, based on a clean room. The equipment and characteristics of these facilities are part of our success as manufacturers. Temperature control is strict, and does not allow variations of more than 1ºC in 24 hours and supplies for the machines are distributed via a traversable roof. See more about Precitor.
Located in the Parque tecnológico Tecnobahía industrial estate (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz), Cafisur is the only plant not in the Basque Country. It has 8,000 m2 of industrial floor area built on a 16,000 m2 plot. Mecaninor has 4,000 m2 for machining large parts which we then mount in our lathes. It has travelling column grinding machines and bridge grinders, used for benches and large parts. The machines are installed in two foundation pits in a temperature controlled environment to ensure precision, mainly in the grinding. Find out more about Mecaninor here.
Meydi is our electrical assembly plant. Recently renovated, it has 1,250 m2 of facilities. The refurbishment opened up large windows with natural light in a purpose designed space for assemblers to carry out the cabling and painstaking assembly of the electrical panels for our machines. The new assembly plant in Berriz will add to the range of facilities and strengthen our production muscle.
Our international presence is spreading. In addition to our subsidiaries in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Denmark, we sell in major European countries through our official network of distributors. In 2024, we will consolidate our presence in Turkey and the United States by increasing the share of machines delivered to both countries.
The new Berriz plant is a step forward on the path towards achieving our goals. Expansion and consolidation in our current markets will help us get our machines to more customers. Thanks to the investment in facilities, we are getting ever closer to our target of producing 800 lathes a year.
